Hare Krishna!

To my (limited) knowledge Food prepared with Onion and Garlic cannot be offered to Krishna.

I have a friend who recently came into KC and is currently chanting one round. After hearing a lecture in the temple about the Power of Prasadam he wanted to start offering Bhog at his house. However since he was staying in a joint-family he did not have the flexibility to prepare food without Onion and Garlic. My Counsellor suggested that my friend start offering Milk/Fruits to begin with and then distribute that Prasad to all his family members. Hopefully by eating Prasad the Consciousness of this family members will be purified and that will pave the way for further progress.

One other thought here - Since Roti and Rice are generally cooked without Onion and Garlic can these be offered to Krishna without offering the accompanying Sabji? (Partial Bhog Offering)

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

No. because it is in mode of passion. Krishna only accepts food in goodness-without punjent smell.
